What About Bob…

Bob's formal education includes a Ph.D. in Urban & Regional Planning from Michigan State University where his studies focused on Urban Planning, Economics, Transportation/Distribution and Quantitative Analysis. Prior to that, he earned an MA in Urban Studies and a BA in Geography (Biology Minor) from Minnesota State University-Mankato (formerly Mankato State). Bob also holds a Real Estate License in the State of Minnesota.

After his stint at Michigan State, Bob served as the Director of Planning for Van Doren-Hazard-Stallings (VHS, an Architecture-Engineering-Planning firm headquartered in Kansas). His primary responsibilities with VHS were to provide planning support services for highway and bridge projects where he prepared Environmental Impact Statements and Historic Assessments (4f) in conformance with Federal regulations. He also prepared a comprehensive Social & Environmental Inventory as part of a Water Resource Study for the Fargo-Moorhead Metropolitan Area in conjunction with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Since leaving VHS, Bob has worked as a Planning Consultant with both public and private clients. He has assisted municipalities with preparation of Comprehensive Land Use Plans and Growth Management Plans; assisted communities with zoning and sub-division reviews of development projects; and prepared Retail Market Studies for potential retail developments. He has also worked with private clients to perform residential site analysis & design for projects as large as 160 acres; Location Analysis & Site Selection for businesses; and Feasibility Studies/Market Studies for a variety of private ventures.

Bob has been involved in the educational aspect of planning as well. He taught planning design courses at Michigan State University for 5 years. He also created & taught "Introduction to Residential Land Development", a Real Estate Continuing Education course for Prosource/Kaplan Professional Education Service.

Bob's Real Estate Sales and Service experience includes dealing with a variety of large and small residential, commercial and industrial properties. In order to provide the highest quality marketing, sales and closing capabilities, Bob has teamed with Coldwell Banker Burnet. As an avocation, Bob has been involved in coaching men's gymnastics. He served as Assistant Men's Coach at Michigan State University (5 years) and the University of Minnesota (2 years, one Big Ten Championship). He also created a Men's Junior Olympic Development Program where he developed 25 NCAA Division I athletes. He served for three years on the Board of Directors of USA-Gymnastics (the National Governing Body for the sport of gymnastics) as the National Men's Program Representative, 2 years as Chairman of the Minnesota Men's Junior Olympic Gymnastics Program, and currently sits on the State's Board of Directors. He founded the Men's Intercollegiate Gymnastics Support Program (www.migsp.org) and sits on the National Board Of Directors for the College Sports Council (www.collegesportscouncil.org).
